Mosquito Lake Park to host Safety Day

BAZETTA EVENT: Bazetta Township police and fire departments, in conjunction with Mosquito Lake Marina, will host the 16th annual Safety Day noon to 3 p.m. Saturday at Mosquito Lake State Park. The event will include vehicles and representatives from local, state and federal law enforcement agencies and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. A drawing for children’s bikes will be held and other prizes given away. There also will be K-9 and karate demonstrations, the Trumbull County Sheriff dive team, Birds in Flight Sanctuary and Mahoning Valley Crisis Response Team vehicle “The Bear.” For information, call 330-637-2075.

VETERANS OUTREACH: Liberty Historical Society is collecting items for the local chapter of the Veterans Outreach with containers available 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday to Friday in the township administration building lobby. Items needed are men’s clothing, personal hygiene items and nonperishable food items.

DANCIN’ FOR DOGS: A basket raffle and the “Dancin’ For Dogs” Every Dog Matters Rescue benefit dance party will be held Thursday at Rolling Mills Bar & Grill, 1025 S. State St., Girard. Basket raffles start at 5:30 p.m. and the dance runs 7 to 9:30 p.m. with DJ Stephen Barba. A $5 admission fee supports the foster-based dog rescue group whose mission is to rescue, rehabilitate and re-home unwanted dogs by creating better lives for them through rescue, foster, training and adoption.
