ORDINATION: Bazetta Baptist Church, 1109 Perkins Jones Road NE, will hold the service of ordination at 11 a.m. Sunday for the Rev. Daniel Wilson who started at the church two years ago.

BABY BLESSING: Second Baptist Church “A House of Hope,” 1510 Main Ave. SW in Warren, will host its second annual citywide baby blessing 10:15 a.m. Sunday. Pastor Todd Johnson will offer prayer and blessing over babies and children from the community up to age 11. The blessing is open to all families, regardless of church affiliation and is free to the public. Each family will receive a certificate of blessing and an opportunity to take a family photo. HOPE FOR TOMORROW: Hope for Tomorrow after losing a loved one led by Keith Baker will be held 6:30 p.m. Sunday at the Master’s Touch, 5357 S. Raccoon Road, Canfield. Baker will share his journey through grief testimony. The event is free to the public.

BISHOP AT CLOSING MASS: Bishop George Murry of the Diocese of Youngstown is celebrating the Mass 4 p.m. June 9 at St. Columba Cathedral to conclude the 75th anniversary observance of the Diocese. The Ecumenical Television Channel will broadcast the closing Mass 10 a.m. and 8 p.m. June 10, noon June 12 and 10 a.m. June 14.

CELEBRATION: The Celebration Church, 809 N. Main St., Hubbard, will celebrate the people of Hubbard for 15 weeks from Memorial Day to Labor Day, starting 10 a.m. Sunday with a recognition of veterans. Other events are June 2, Mayor John Darko; June 9, Hubbard Police Department; June 16, Father’s Day; June 23, Hubbard Fire Department; and June 30, Hubbard library staff.

BENEFIT SET: The Oblate Sisters Auxiliary fifth annual Bella Sera dance dinner event 6 to 11 p.m. June 1 at Our Lady fo Mt. Carmel church hall, Youngstown. There will be dinner, dancing and basket raffle. For tickets, call 330-759-9329.

CELEBRATING MARRIAGES: The Office of Pro-Life Marriage and Family Ministry of the Diocese of Youngstown will hold a wedding anniversary celebration to honor couples with 25, 40, 50 and more years of marriage. The event will be 2 p.m. June 2 at St. Columba Cathedral.

DRESSES FOR HAITI: Cornerhouse Christian Church, 6954 Chestnut Ridge Road, Hubbard, will hold Little Dresses for Haiti 10 a.m. today with participants sewing dresses for children in Haiti.

CAR SHOW: St. Patrick Church, 225 N. Main St., Hubbard, will hold a car and truck show today, with a rain date of June 1. Awards will be at 2 p.m. Registration is 9 to 11 a.m.

FIRST FRIDAY CLUB: The First Friday Club of Greater Youngstown will be 11:30 a.m. June 6 at Avion on the Lake, Poland. Paul Jarzembowski, assistant director for youth and young adult ministries, United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, is the guest speaker. He will discuss “Coming Youth.”

WOMEN IN WHITE: St. John’s Ministries, 419 Highland Ave. SW, Warren, is holding the 13th annual 100 Women in White celebration 5 p.m. June 9. The theme is “The Character and Behavior of a Holy Woman.” Speaker is first lady Pamela Jocarol Hurse Merrell of New Jerusalem Fellowship. Host pastor is Robert Herron.

HEBREW CLASS: The Jewish Community Center in Youngstown will offer beginner Hebrew class 5:30 to 7 p.m. Tuesdays. Israeli educators Gon Erez and Matan Norani will teach the course in Hebrew reading. GUIDED WALK: Villa Maria Educational and Spirituality Center will host a guided labyrinth walk monthly through October on the following dates: June 19, July 24, Aug. 21, Sept. 18 and Oct. 20. Participants are invited to meet at the outdoor labyrinth at 2 p.m. to prayerfully walk the grass path after receiving thematic instructions from the presenter. The labyrinth a is a replica of the one found in Chartres Cathedral in France. Free-will offerings are accepted. OUTDOOR WORSHIP: Andover United Methodist Church, will hold a drive-in outdoor worship service 9:30 a.m. each Sunday May 26 to Sept. 1 at Wildwood Acres Campgrounds, intersection of state Route 7 and Marvin Road. The casual interdenominational worship service has been sponsored by the church for 50 years. Special music services will be presented June 30 with Sound Witness.

CONFERENCE SET: A conference retreat with Kathleen Duffy, SSJ, will be offered June 9-14 at Villa Maria Education and Spirituality Center in Villa Maria, Pa. The retreat is titled: “Teilhard’s Mysticism: Spiraling into the Cosmic Christ.” Cost is $450. Program information and registration available at www.vmesc.org or 724-964-8886.

90 YEARS: First Federated Church, 10786 Mahoning Ave., North Jackson, will celebrate “90 Years of Looking Ahead” with a special service to celebrate the renovation of the sanctuary 10 a.m. June 2. There will be more than 20 musical guests. Host pastor is Jack Acri.

HEBREW PROGRAM: The Jewish Community Center Israeli Scholar Series features Israeli scholars living in the United States. They will be at the center at noon June 7 for an educational discussion about their fields of study. The next installment features Hebrew teacher Mirit Sharon. Sharon will share her story about teaching the Hebrew language to Bedouin students in southern Israel. Sharon has a Master of Education Management and Leadership from Tel-Aviv University and teaches Hebrew as a second language in the U.S. This event is free and open to all.
