Old-time event set for Champion

SKATING DANCE EVENT: The Focus Building in Warren will present Roll Bounce Old-School Skate and Dance Party 8 to 11 p.m. Sunday at the Champion Skate, 5040 Mahoning Ave. NW, for adults only. The event will feature top urban dance music from the 1960s to 1980s made popular in the Roll Bounce era of youth and young adult skate parties. Advance tickets are $10 per person available at www.focusbldg.eventbrite.com. Tickets will be available at the door the night of the event for $12 per person. Skate rental is $4. This is the first in a series of FOCUS-sponsored events designed to promote positivity and community bridge-building in the Warren area.

COMICS PROGRAM: The Story of DC and Marvel Comics (1938 to 2019) presented by Greg Bartholomew from All American Cards and Comics will be held 6 p.m. June 3 at the McKinley Memorial Library in Niles. People can learn about DC and Marvel Universal.

GAME NIGHTS: Game Nights are planned for adults and teens at the Warren-Trumbull County Public Library. The Adult Game Night is 6 to 7:30 p.m. today for ages 18 and older. Players of any skill level are welcome to drop by to play board, card, or video games. The teen game night will be held 5 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at for those in grades 7-12. There will be video gaming, collectible card game duels, and board games. Special events are hosted the first Thursday of every month.

MOSQUITO LAKE CHASE: The Mosquito Lake Chase. a 5K run and one-mile fun run / walk will be 9 a.m. Monday at Maplewood High School, 2414 Greenville Road NE. Proceeds from the event are dedicated to the Oscar Grant Scholarship Fund and other Maplewood Running Rockets activities. Oscar Grant was a teacher, coach, official and a World War II veteran. Entry is $18 for pre-registered runners and $20 on race day. Shirts are available to the first 100 participants.

SUMMER SWIM: Registration is now underway for the Jewish Community Center Logan Ducks and Ducklings Swim teams. Practices are held Monday through Friday starting May 28. There are two teams available this summer. Logan Ducklings is for children who can swim half the length of the pool, the whole length with a backpack or on teacher’s recommendation.
