Free picnic set at Perkins Park

MEMORIAL DAY EVENT: Love Charity Alms will hold a Memorial Day celebration community picnic 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday at Perkins Park, Warren. There will be free food and games and a raffle to support the Martha J. Hill Memorial Scholarship.

GULF WAR MEMORIAL: A dedication of the Gulf War Veterans Memorial in memory of Staff Sgt. Daniel E. Lykins will be 11 a.m. to noon Saturday at the veterans section of Niles City Cemetery. The service will be conducted by American Legion Post 106, Niles, and American Legion Post 737, Lake Milton, Honor Guard. Lykins, who died in January, served 11 years in the Air Force and returned to the military and served in the U.S. Army for a total of 33 years, with seven overseas deployments. He retired and was honorably discharged from the Army in November 2014.

BLOOD DRIVE: An American Red Cross blood drive will be 12:30 to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Braceville United Methodist Church, 589 Park Road SW. Homemade soups and fresh baked cookies are provided for all donors.

EVENT CANCELLATION: Howland Community Church has canceled its garage sale originally scheduled for Saturday.

SOCIETY RAFFLES QUILT: The Howland Historical Society will hold the annual quilt raffle with drawing set for 2 p.m. July 4 at Howland High School during the Howland Fourth of July Festival. Tickets are $3 each and two for $5. The quilt is a Pennsylvania Mennonite hand-stitched king-size Dahlia design. For tickets, call 330-856-3432.
