EARTH DAY EVENT: Mercy Health St. Joseph Warren Hospital will hold a free Shred Day from 1 to 2:30 p.m. in the parking lot. The event is being held for Earth Day. The public can bring paycheck stubs, personal documents, tax records, medical records, credit information and items containing Social Security number or signatures to shred. No electronic items will be accepted. All materials will be taken to Allshred Services Off-site Shredding Facility in locked containers to be shredded.

ARTISTS SOUGHT: The Southington Community Trust invites all alumni, former art students and arts from the school district and neighboring districts to attend the second annual Chalker Building Community Art Exhibit 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 27 and 28 and May 4 and 5 at the former school. Entries are welcome at no fee. There is a new category of art created from recycled and found materials. Those who want to enter can contact mphipps02 @embarqmail.com

GAME CHANGERS FUNDRAISER: Game Changers will hold the King of the Wings, Wing Cookoff 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday at the Eastwood Mall concourse. The event is a fundraiser for their scholarships and programming. Game Changers Leadership is a charitable organization aimed at positively redefining the image of student athletes in the community. The organization is focused on increasing the retention and graduation of high school athletes. The event will feature area restaurants, 50-50 raffle, silent and Chinese auction. MEETING SET: Community activist Carolyn Evans has announced a Westside Neighborhood Community Meeting to be held on 6:30 p.m. Thursday at New Freedom Missionary Baptist Church, 1590 Tod Ave. SW, Warren. Speakers for the event will be Warren Law Director incumbent candidate Greg Hicks, who will talk about his campaign, and Barbara Phinesee, who will discuss her re-entry program, Citizens Uniting Citizens.

All city residents are welcome to attend the inaugural meeting.

SLOVAK JEWS: “The Tragedy of Slovak Jews,” an exhibit on the Holocaust in Slovakia curated by the National Czech and Slovak Museum and Library in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, will be on display at the Tyler History Center in Youngstown from April 30 to May 31. Dr. Rebekah Klein-Pejsova, an expert on Slovak and Jewish history from Purdue University, will present a lecture at the exhibit’s opening event 6 p.m. April 30. Doors will open for a reception at 5:30 p.m. There will be time to view the exhibit both before and after the talk. This event is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served. STEM SHOWCASE: The Youngstown State University 10th annual STEM Showcase will be held 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. STEM students will showcase projects and research they have worked in the past year. All ages are welcome.
