Library branch set for music, Santa visit

CORTLAND CHRISTMAS: The Cortland Library Branch, 578 Lakeview Drive, will hold a Cortland Christmas 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday. Children of all ages can visit with Santa. There will be holiday music from Dana School of Music graduate Tyler Guerrieri on guitar and refreshments courtesy of the Friends of the Cortland Library. Admission is free.

CHRISTMAS AT HILLSIDE: Hillside Rehabilitation Hospital, 8747 Squires Lane NE, Howland, will host its “Christmas at Hillside” event 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday. Among the festivities will be a children’s craft table, over 20 raffle baskets, musical entertainment and refreshments. “Firmly Grounded,” the praise team at Howland United Methodist Church, led by Clay Colley, will be performing at the event, while children in attendance will have the opportunity to meet and take photos with Santa. Employees and community members have donated and decorated 28 Christmas trees and 40 wreaths that are on display. Each tree has a special theme. All the trees and wreaths along with other Christmas decor will be up for raffle at the event. The raffle drawing will take place Jan. 2 and winners will be notified after the drawing takes place and do not need to be present during the drawing.

Raffle tickets for the Christmas trees and wreaths can be purchased in the main lobby at the receptionist desk.

All proceeds from the event will benefit the American Heart/American Stroke Association. For information, call 330-841-9427.

RIDE TROLLEY: The annual McKinley Christmas will be noon to 4 p.m. Saturday in Niles. A trolley will take people from the McKinley Birthplace Museum, McKinley Replica House and Ward Thomas House Museum. There will be crafts, games and entertainment at each stop.

HOLIDAY CONCERT: The Youngstown Area Community Band and the Stambaugh Chorus will present the eighth annual Holiday Concert of Giving 4 p.m. Dec. 16 at Stambaugh Auditorium. The concert will benefit the Second Harvest Food Bank in Youngstown. Admission is a donation to the food bank. Following the concert will be a cookie reception.

TRAIN DISPLAY: The North Bloomfied Historical Society has created a holiday display at the township hall. The trains will be shown 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesdays and 2 to 5 p.m. Saturdays in December. Santa Claus will arrive Saturday.
