St. Patrick Parish festival scheduled

SEEING EYE

EVENT IN HUBBARD: St. Patrick Parish 59th annual festival will be held Thursday to Aug. 6 at the church grounds, 225 N. Main St., Hubbard. Hours are 6 to 11 p.m. Thursday and Friday, 5 p.m. to midnight Saturday and 3 to 11 p.m. Aug. 6. Friday is Class Reunion Night, Saturday is Family Night and Aug. 6 is Raffle Drawing Night.

Musical entertainment includes Second Avenue Project, 7 to 10 p.m. Thursday; Hern Brothers Band, 8 to 11p.m. Friday; The House Band, 8 to 11 p.m. Saturday; and County Mayo Band, 3 to 6 p.m., and Guys without Ties, 7 to 11 p.m. Aug. 6.

PI KAPPA PHI CYCLE TO FAIRHAVEN: On Saturday, 37 Pi Kappa Phi fraternity brothers will arrive at Fairhaven School for their 16th annual visit during the Journey of Hope.

The cyclists started their journey June 11 in San Francisco. Each year, three teams ride across the U.S. to raise awareness and encourage inclusion for individuals with developmental disabilities. The Journey of Hope teams will complete their journey Aug. 12 at the steps of the Capitol Building in Washington, D.C.

The Fairhaven Foundation is sponsoring a dance party with the cyclists on Saturday. The cost is $1 per person and the event is open to the community. There will be music, dancing and light refreshments. An RSVP is not necessary to attend.

YOUTH DISC GOLF EVENT: A free youth disc golf clinic will be held 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at Clarence Darrow MetroPark’s Young’s Run Disc Golf Course, across from Kent State University at Trumbull in Champion.

The clinic is being put on by the Trumbull County Disc Golf Association and The Disc Junky to introduce people to the sport of disc golf. There will be instructors showing different aspects of the game. Discs will be available for use the day of free of charge.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, HARRY: “Happy Birthday, Harry!,” to celebrate Harry Potter, ”The Boy Who Lived,” on his birthday, will be held 1 p.m. Monday at Cortland Library Branch, 578 Lakeview Drive. The free event for teens in seventh to 12th grades includes snacks, a scavenger hunt, movie and wand designing.

HOWLAND CONCERT: The Eric Brass Ensemble will perform 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at the Howland Township Park as part of the summer music concert.

SUMMER CONCERT: The “Butch Nichols Band” will perform 6 p.m. today at Vienna Township gazebo, Warren Sharon Road, for the summer concert series. Those attending can bring a lawn chair and enjoy an outdoor summer concert. Refreshments available for purchase.

In case of inclement weather, the concert will be moved to St. Thomas the Apostle Parish Center, 4453 Warren Sharon Road, Vienna.
