Learn to preserve garden goodies
HOME-PRESERVING: Ohio State University Extension will hold a “Freezing and Canning Workshop” at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Agriculture and Family Education Center, 520 W. Main St, Cortland. Ohio Gardeners and other lovers of fresh produce can learn about home-preserving fruits and vegetables. The workshop focuses on the basics of home canning and preservation and is appropriate for people with all levels of experience. HISTORIC OPEN HOUSE: The Mahoning Valley Historical Education staff will host a free afternoon of fun from 1 to 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Tyler History Center, 325 W. Federal St., Youngstown. The program will be on ”Places of the Mahoning Valley.” Visitors will explore the Valley’s most important and unique sites, their history and how they helped the area to grow.
