SMALL BUSINESS HELP: Valley Partners, in connection with Huntington National Bank, will introduce Seeds for Growth to the Mahoning Valley region, a Small Business dinner designed to connect under-resourced small businesses to capital and to help build trust and transparency with Huntington bankers. The dinner will be 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 20, at the Provence Mills Event Center in Girard. Doors open at 3 p.m.

The gathering will provide startup and growth-stage business owners the opportunity to expand their business horizons by engaging with experts in addition to connecting with peers at a vendor marketplace. Attendees also will enjoy live entertainment, a dinner reception and will receive the chance to win giveaways.

“Helping businesses thrive is a key aspect to our mission at Huntington,” said Sam Huston, market president for Huntington Bank. “These Seeds for Growth events are an integral way to empower small business owners for each stage of a company’s life cycle, and through their success, communities become stronger.”

DONATION PRESENTED: Boardman Subaru announced last week that as part of its 10-year partnership with The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society it has donated 80 blankets, 30 patient care kits and handwritten messages to Akron Children’s patients impacted by blood cancer.

In a news release, Boardman Subaru said its donation helps to provide physical and emotional support during treatment.

In addition to these efforts, the dealership has contributed $5,000 to the society’s Urgent Need, Pediatric, Adolescent and Young Adult Fund. This program provides financial assistance to families of pediatric blood cancer patients, covering nonmedical expenses, such as transportation, childcare, food and housing.

“We understand how difficult cancer treatment can be, and hope that these donations can help ease the challenges and provide comfort for these wonderful members of our community and their families,” said John Stanko, vice president of Boardman Subaru.
