Cleveland Auto Show to return to I-X Center

The Cleveland Auto Show will return to Cleveland’s Industrial Exposition Center in 2022, show sponsor, the Greater Cleveland Automobile Dealers’ Association, announced Wednesday.

The news followed an announcement that national real estate and investment firm Industrial Realty Group has purchased stock in the I-X Center Corp., which operates the 2.2 million-square-foot I-X Center. The center has been closed for nearly a year.

IRG will partner with Cleveland’s Industrial Commercial Properties, LLC, which owns and redeveloped the former Kmart distribution center in Bazetta, on the I-X Center transaction.

The auto show is scheduled for Feb. 25 to March 6. It will be postponed again to align with the reopening of the I-X Center. The previously scheduled show at the Huntington Convention Center of Cleveland will not take place in December, according to the dealers’ association.

“When given the opportunity to return to the I-X Center, we couldn’t pass up shifting back to our traditional early spring timeframe,” said Louis A. Vitantonio, dealers’ association president.

In addition to reopening the center, IRG will work to expand development on land surrounding the I-X Center, which is adjacent to Cleveland Hopkins International Airport, a release from IRG states.

In addition to the auto show, the Ohio RV Supershow and the Great Big Home and Garden Show plan to use the I-X Center for exhibitions in 2022.
