Kenilworth Steel favored in civil suit

WARREN — A Warren steel company benefitted from a decision this week by a Trumbull County judge who granted it a $30,426 payment plus interest from an Illinois company.

In January 2020, Kenilworth Steel Co., a West Market Street steel plate service center, had filed a civil lawsuit against American Grinding and Machine Co., a Illinois steel fabricator, charging it with not submitting payments for $33,371 of metal products Kenilworth delivered to the defendant in August 2019.

In a judgment filed Monday, Trumbull County Common Pleas Judge Andrew D. Logan ordered the Illinois company to pay its debt in full to Kenilworth Steel, with $5,000 per month payments beginning Nov. 1 and continuing through April 3, 2021. Logan allowed the defendant be given a five-day correction period in case it fell behind in payments.

The judgment, which was signed by both parties, headed off a April 21 civil trial scheduled for Logan’s court.
