AKRON CHILDREN’S RECOGNIZED: Akron Children’s Hospital has earned recognition as a Top Workplace by the Cleveland Plain Dealer for the sixth year in a row.

The honor is based on employee feedback through a survey by Energage, LLC, a provider of technology-based employee engagement tools. The anonymous survey measures several aspects of workplace culture including alignment, connection and execution.

Sixty-eight percent of 3,685 Akron Children’s employees who received the survey completed the questionnaire. Employees gave the hospital high marks in several areas, including values, direction and open-mindedness.

PARAMEDIC HONORED: Lorie Burton, an American Medical Response paramedic and field training officer, has been selected as a 2020 Star of Life by the American Ambulance Association.

Burton, of the Youngstown area, is one of only 100 recipients nationwide to receive the award, considered the highest honor an emergency medical service professional can receive, this year. It recognizes the dedication of ambulance service professionals across the country.

She was honored for her actions that saved the life of a cardiac arrest patient in April 2019.
