Vehicles sales in Valley surging
WARREN — Automobile sales in Trumbull, Mahoning and Columbiana counties leaped 16 percent in September from last year as dealers in the region continue to post numbers well ahead of the pace set in 2018.
Mahoning Valley dealerships sold 5,006 vehicles last month to buyers across Ohio, up from 4,318 in September 2018, and they sold 45,011 vehicles through September — a 6.4 percent increase from 42,290 sold over the same nine months last year, according to the Greater Cleveland Automobile Dealers’ Association.
To buyers just in the three-county area, there was a 19 percent increase for September and 11 percent increase for the year with new and used car sales posting similar gains.
In September, 7,642 vehicles were sold, compared to 6,426 sold in September 2018, and 68,966 were dealt through September to the 62,029 in 2018.
New vehicles sold for the month were 2,881, up 16 percent from 2,488 in September 2018, and for the year there was a 6.4 percent jump, from 23,847 to 25,380. Used vehicles sales for the month rose 15.5 percent — from 1,774 in September 2018 to 2,049 last month — and for the year, a 6.6 percent increase — from 17,573 to 18,740.
Dealerships in Trumbull County with the most sales across Ohio in September were Toyota of Warren, 162; Sims Buick GMC Truck, 139; Greenwood’s Hubbard Chevrolet, 121; Klaben Ford Lincoln of Warren, 120; and Diane Sauer Chevrolet, 113.
Dealerships in the county with the most sales in the tri-county area were Toyota of Warren, 140; Sims Buick GMC Truck, 127; Greenwood’s Hubbard Chevrolet, 118; Klaben Ford Lincoln of Warren, 112; and Diane Sauer Chevrolet, 110.
The top new vehicle sellers in Trumbull County were Toyota of Warren, 87; Sims Buick GMC Truck, 76; Klaben Ford Lincoln of Warren, 67; Diane Sauer Chevrolet, 61; and Greenwood’s Hubbard Chevrolet, 57.
The top used vehicle sellers in the county last month were Greenwood’s Hubbard Chevrolet, 61; Toyota of Warren, 53; Sims Buick GMC Truck, 51; Diane Sauer Chevrolet, 49; and Klaben Ford Lincoln of Warren, 45.
The overall best selling dealership in the area was Greenwood Chevrolet in Austintown with 250 sold in September.
