YSU HOSTS TECH WORKSHOPS: Youngstown State University will host “Technology Takes the Wheel,” a series of seminars focused on the future of autonomous vehicles and one-day workshop to explore opportunities in space-based technology markets.

The autonomous vehicle series starts at 8 a.m. Nov. 13 in the auditorium of Williamson Hall.

On Nov. 5 will be the space workshop to look at common challenges companies face in growing their space-based technology businesses. It will be in the DeBartolo Stadium Club on campus.

AKRON CHILDREN’S NAMES PLAYROOM: Akron Children’s Hospital Mahoning Valley is honoring the generosity of Dairy Queen franchise owners in the Mahoning Valley and western Pennsylvania with an honorary naming of a pediatric playroom as the Local Dairy Queen Families & Fans Playroom.

Over the last 10 years, local Dairy Queen locations have raised $250,000 through Children’s Miracle Network fundraisers such as Miracle Treat Day, Free Cone Day, register coin canisters, fall round and summer balloon sales.

A recognition ceremony was to be Friday at Akron Children’s Hospital Mahoning Valley Beeghly campus in Boardman.

CAREER FAIR AT MALL: More than 100 businesses and colleges have been invited to attend a college career and trades conference Tuesday at the Eastwood Mall inside the former Sears.

The event, from 8 a.m. to noon, is expected to draw more than 3,500 students in grades 8 to 12 from all over Trumbull County. It will be open to the public 5 to 7 p.m.

Representatives will be on hand to answer key questions ranging from college acceptance policies, job shadowing, internships, and employment. Guest speakers will be offering advice on college planning, career readiness and high-growth jobs throughout the day.
