Local gas prices below average

WARREN — Motorists in the Warren-Youngstown and Niles areas are paying less than the N`ortheast Ohio average for a gallon of gasoline despite a 10-cent jump in the region.

The average price in Warren-Youngstown is $2.53 per gallon and in Niles, $2.58, according to AAA East Central’s Gas Price Report. Across northeast Ohio, the average is $2.61, up from $2.51 per gallon last week.

The average price this time last year was $2.79 per gallon.

Across the U.S. the price held steady at $2.56, but drivers can expect local prices to start to rise this week, but by how much is unclear.
