Ryan introduces bill to spur small manufacturing

WARREN — A bipartisan bill to increase affordable capital for small manufacturers co-sponsored by U.S. Rep. Timothy J. Ryan, D-Howland, was introduced Tuesday.

A similar proposal that also supports small manufacturing startups, spurs investment into the small business sector and expands education help to small manufacturers was also introduced in the U.S. Senate.

The legislation specifically would increase loan guarantees to 90 percent and loan amounts to $10 million, eliminates guarantee fees on loans less than $350,000 and cuts by 50 percent the fees on loans more than $350,000.

In addition, the bill would reduce the cost from 15 percent to 5 percent startups are required to pay for project financing.
