Local gas prices below northeast Ohio average

WARREN — Average gas prices in the Warren / Youngstown and Niles area remain below the rest of northeast Ohio, according to AAA East Central’s Gas Price Report.

The per-gallon average in Warren / Youngstown is $2.71, which is 7 cents less than the region’s average of $2.78. In Niles, the $2.86 per gallon average is 10 cents less than the rest of northeast Ohio.

The average price this week last year was $2.82 per gallon.

Across the U.S., gas prices have risen 8 cents since the beginning of July to an average $2.79 amid more expensive crude oil prices, robust demand and decreasing gasoline stocks, according to the report. The average this week is 4 cents greater than last week and 10 cents more expensive than a month ago.
