Wagering down at local racino

AUSTINTOWN — April wagering on video lottery terminals at Hollywood Gaming at Mahoning Valley Race Course fell from March, but was greater than last year.

The state Route 46 facility saw $110.5 million in credits played, down from $118.9 million in March, according to the Ohio Lottery Commission, which oversees video lottery terminals (VLTs) in the state.

April 2018 wagering was $103.3 million.

Winnings followed the same trend. Credits won were $98.2 million in April, down from $105.5 million in March, but up from $91.3 million in April 2018.

The net win in April was $10.8 million, down from $11.8 million last month, but up from $10.5 million in April 2018.

Last month, the percent payout was 90.2; the average number of VLTs was 1,101; and the VLT win per day was $238. In March, the percent payout was 90.03; the average number of VLTs was 1,100 and the VLT win per day was $348.

Of the net winnings in April, $7.1 million went to Penn National Gaming Inc., the company that operates the racino; $2.6 million to the lottery commission; and $35,992 to problem gambling services.

Last month at Hollywood Gaming at Dayton Raceway, also owned by Penn National, $102.4 million credits were played and $91 million credits were won compared to $111 million and $98.7 million the prior month. The net win was $9.7 million, down from $11 million in March.

Year-over-year in April, the raceway posted $90.9 million in credits played, $80.3 million in credits won and a net win of $9.2 million.

The percent payout was 90.5; average number of VLTs, 1,058; and the VLT win per day was $307. In March the percent payout was 90 percent; average number of VLTS, 1,060; and VLT win per day, $336.

Of the net winnings in April, $6.4 million went to Penn National, $3.2 million to the lottery commission and $32,364 to problem gambling services.

Statewide at Ohio’s seven facilities with VLTS last month, there were $982.6 million credits played, $877.2 million credits won and a net win of $89.6 million. The percent payout was 90.8; average number of VLTS, 11,206; and a per day VLT win of $267.

In March, $1.1 billion in credits were played, $996.5 million credits won and a net win of $89.6 million. The percent payout was 90.7; average number of VLTS, 11,407; and per day VLT win of $292.

Last month, $59.3 million of the net win was given to operators; $30 million to the lottery commission; and $298,048 to problem gambling services.
