Bill would create U.S. chief manufacturing officer

WARREN — U.S. Rep. Timothy J. Ryan is among several co-sponsors on a bill that would create a U.S. chief manufacturing officer in the executive office of the president.

The person would be responsible for coordinating manufacturing-related policies and activities across government and develop a national manufacturing strategy, according to a release from Ryan’s office.

Ryan, D-Howland, is co-chairman of the House Manufacturing Caucus with Republican U.S. Rep. Tom Reed of New York, also a co-sponsor of the bill.
