Nominees for Athena Award announced

WARREN — Fifteen nominees have been announced for the 27th annual Athena Award, which recognizes women who strive toward the highest levels of professional accomplishment.

The nominees are:

• Jennifer Brainard, co-owner, Champion Skate

• Jaclyn Carpenter, director of booking, JAC Management Group / JAC LIVE

• Nikki Carter, chief strategy officer, Mercy Health, Great Lakes Group

• Sherri Clay, registered senior client associate, Merrill Lynch

• Charyn Faenza, director of application solutions, First National Bank

• Jennifer Johnson, area manager, Aqua Ohio

• Joyce Kale-Pesta, director, Mahoning County Board of Elections

• M. Brigid Kennedy, president, Ursuline Ministries

• Jenna Kifer, human resource manager, Homes for Kids; treasurer, WRC-SHRM Western Reserve Chapter of SHRM

• Dr. Tammy King, acting dean, Bitonte College of Health and Human Services, Youngstown State University

• Katherine C. Kom-ara, director of operations, Behavioral Health Institute, Mercy Health-Youngstown

• Dr. Sarah Michaliszyn, associate professor / chair, department of kinesiology and sports science, YSU

• Dr. Alicia Prieto Langarica, associate professor, YSU

• Jennifer Roller, president, Raymond John Wean Foundation

• Sarah Wilschek, community development manager, Jewish Community Center

The Athena Award dinner will be 5:30 to 9 p.m. May 16 at Mr. Anthony’s in Boardman. The evening will include keynote speaker, presentation of the Athena Scholarship, recognition of all nominees and the announcement of this year’s recipient. The award is co-sponsored by the Youngstown-Warren Regional Chamber.
