Company applies for injection well permit

HUBBARD TOWNSHIP — Canfield-based Bobcat Hubbard LLC has applied for a permit to drill a brine injection well just south of Hubbard Masury Road, according to Ohio Department of Natural Resources records.

The proposed well is classified as a Class II injection well, which means its sole purpose is to inject brine waste created by the oil and gas drilling process into the ground and to protect freshwater from contamination.

The Ohio Department of Natural Resources is reviewing the application. Bobcat Hubbard LLC is required to post a legal notice and to allow a public comment period. According to the Ohio Administrative Code, anyone wanting to comment or object to the application has 15 days from the posting of the public notice or from the last publication in a newspaper of general circulation in which the proposed project is located.
