Local home sales up in ’15

WARREN – Home sales in Trumbull County increased 8.3 percent last year compared with 2014, despite fewer listings.

In 2015, there were 1,998 closed sales in the county, compared with 1,845 in 2014, according to the Warren Area Board of Realtors.

New listings were down 2.5 percent, from 3,020 in 2014 to 2,945 in 2015.

The median sales prices increased 7.4 percent for the year from $74,000 in 2014 to $79,500 in 2015.

In December, there were 169 homes sold in the county, compared with 167 the same month in 2014, an increase of 1.2 percent.

New listings dropped 23.3 percent, from 176 in December 2014 to 135 last month.

The median sales price rose 8.7 percent last month compared with the same time last year, from $69,000 to $75,000.

There were 141 pending sales at the end of December compared with 139 in December 2014, up 1.4 percent.

In Mahoning County last year, closed sales jumped 14.1 percent to 2,736, up from 2,398 in 2014, the Youngstown / Columbiana Association of Realtors reported.

New listings rose 8.2 percent from 4,127 in 2014 to 4,465 in 2015.

The county’s median home price was $79,700, a 0.4 percent drop from 2014, when it was $80,000.

Last month in Mahoning County, home sales fell 6.1 percent, from 230 in December 2014 to 216.

New listings dropped 9.7 percent, from 238 to 215.

However, the county’s median sales price increased last 7.4 percent last month to $81,000 versus $75,450 in December 2014.

As of Dec. 31, there were 214 pending sales, a 37.2 percent jump from the same month in 2014, when there were 156.
