Gas prices on par with last year’s

WARREN – With the start of the new year, local consumers are seeing gas prices comparable what what they were at the end of 2015.

And, according to auto club AAA, there is little difference between this week’s gas prices and what they were a year ago.

In Ohio on Monday, the average cost of a gallon of regular gas at the pump was about $1.89, about the same it was a week ago, AAA reported. It was about $1.91 a month ago and one year ago across the state.

In the Warren-Youngstown area, the average price for a gallon of regular gas was $1.85 on Monday, down slightly from $1.86 a week ago, but up from a month ago – and the first full week of January last year – when it was $1.82 a gallon.

Local and state prices continue running below the national average for regular gas, which was $1.99 on Monday. A year ago, the national average was about $2.21.
