Address of legitimate business used in timeshares scheme

Tribune Chronicle

YOUNGSTOWN – The Better Business Bureau is warning consumers that a problem business is using the address of a legitimate business in Mahoning County to contact timeshare owners.

DCM Resort Properties LLC has been contacting consumers by mail, phone or email across the country who have timeshares for sale and offering to purchase them for significantly more than what they are worth, the BBB reported. Customers are required to wire a deposit.

BBB officials said one consumer said he was asked to wire the money to an address in Mexico.

The website for DCM Resort Properties LLC, dcmresortpropertiesllc.com, displays the address of 721 Boardman-Poland Road, Youngstown, and the phone number 330-423-0403, both of which are used by the legitimate DCM Resort Properties LLC and Handel Investments LLC managed by David Handel.

Legal counsel representing the legitimate DCM Resort Properties LLC and Handel Investments LLC notified BBB that neither entity buys or sells timeshares.

“We often think of personal identity theft, but in this instance, a business can be a victim as well,” said Carol Potter, president of BBB of the Mahoning Valley.
