Patrol identifies man hit by car in his home
HOWLAND — The Ohio State Highway Patrol on Thursday identified the Howland resident who was pronounced dead at the scene Wednesday night as a car crashed into his home at 1313 DeForest Road SE.
According to a patrol report, Matthew Burke, 45, was in his basement when a 2006 Honda Civic driven by Damien L. Fish, 24, of Warren, went off the north side of Deforest striking the home. The vehicle went through the foundation and struck Burke, who was pronounced dead at the scene. An autopsy is expected to be performed later Thursday, according to the Trumbull County Coroner’s Office.
Fish was taken to St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
The accident closed DeForest Road during the investigation. Also assisting were Howland and Warren fire departments and Howland police.
The patrol said the crash remains under investigation.
