Playhouse announces ‘Rain’ auditions, 101st season
The Youngstown Playhouse will have auditions June 22 and 23 for “Singin’ in the Rain,” the first musical of its 101st season.
Director Tyler Stouffer is seeking a large, energetic cast ages 16 and older. There are plenty of different opportunities for performers of different skills across acting, dancing and singing. All roles are open.
Performers attending the auditions should come prepared to sing 32 bars, or one minute, of a golden age musical theater or jazz song with sheet music in their correct key. An accompanist will be provided.
Singer auditions will be 2 to 5 p.m. June 22 at the Playhouse’s downtown Youngstown location at 220 W. Boardman St., and from 6 to 9 p.m. June 23 in the Moyer Room of the Playhouse, 600 Playhouse Lane.

Performers of any and all races, nationalities, gender identities, sexual orientations, body types, religious affiliations, and performers with mental or physical disabilities are strongly encouraged to audition.
“Singin’ in the Rain” opens on the main stage on Sept. 12.
The 101st season opens with Duncan Macmillan’s “People, Places & Things,” which will be directed by Christopher Fidram and opens in the Moyer Room on Aug. 15.
Other productions will include “Urinetown: The Musical” in May 2026, and two productions at the downtown performance space, “The Lyons” opening March 20, 2026, and “The Shark Is Broken” opening June 19, 2026.
The two Playhouse Youth Theatre productions will be William Shakespeare’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” on Oct. 10 to 12 and “Honk Jr.” on Feb. 20 to 22, 2026, both on the main stage.
