YSU hosts lecture on school voucher, culture wars

Josh Cowen, a professor of education policy at Michigan State University, will speak on “School Vouchers, Culture Wars, and Defending the Public Good” at 12:30 p.m., Tuesday at Youngstown State University.

His talk will cover a brief history of school vouchers, a discussion of what the current research says about their effects on kids and families, and an explanation of how vouchers are part of the current historical and political moment.

The program will be in the Chestnut Room of Kilcawley Center, and admission is free.

Millennial Theatre Company schedules ‘Dreamcoat’ auditions

Millennial Theatre Company will have auditions April 26 and 28 for its summer production of the Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber musical “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.”

Auditions for dancers ages 15 and older are scheduled from noon to 3 p.m. April 26.

Auditions for singers and actors (leads and ensemble ages 16 and older as well as youth ensemble for children ages 7 and older) will run from 6 to 9 p.m. April 28.

Actors unable to attend can submit a virtual audition to millennialtheatrecompany@gmail.com by 6 p.m. April 28

Both auditions will take place in the Youngstown Playhouse performance space in the Ballet Western Reserve building 220 W. Boardman St., Youngstown.
