Rust Belt’s ‘Rockin’ Horribles’ returns

Rust Belt Theater Company brings back its audience participation musical comedy “The Rockin’ Horribles” for a two-weekend run starting Friday.

The spoof of “The Rocky Horror Show” tells the story of a basic couple, Chad and Becky, who wreck their car on the wrong side of town and seek refuge in the estate of an eccentric recluse with an unusual fetish.

With the assistance of creepy cohorts Jib Jab, Fuchsia and Columbiana, the couple tests the boundaries and limitations of their gender identities and “traditional” relationship. The result is an evening of dark comedy, audience participation and “rocking horror”… that contains adult language and situations.

According to Rust Belt founder Robert Dennick Joki, who co-wrote the show with Josh Taylor, “The show is hilarious by itself, but if you have recently watched the film or live version of ‘The Rocky Horror Show’ (it’s) even better.”

The cast features Diane Marie, Alex Kluchar, Rachel Clifford, Rick Morrow, Caitlyn Murphy, Charity Bauer, Jon Bunge, Rachael Kerr Bunge, Lisa Torrence, Keith Stepanic, Jennifer Hutton, Vicci Sfikas, Max Caban and Joki.

“The Rockin’ Horribles” will be staged at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday through Nov. 16 at Club Switch, 221 Belmont Ave., Youngstown. Tickets are $15 and can be reserved by calling 330-507-2358.

Starting at $2.99/week.
