Packard Band plays ‘Veterans Salute’

The W.D. Packard Concert Band will honor members of the U.S. Armed Forces at its annual Veterans Day concert on Sunday.

Conductor Galen S. Karriker will lead the band for “Veterans Salute,” a program dominated by patriotic fare.

Like all Packard band performances, the concert will open with “The Star-Spangled Banner” and will be followed by Rick Kirby’s “An American Fanfare,” Claude T. Smith’s “Eternal Father, Strong to Save,” Clare Grundman’s “American Folk Rhapsody No. 2,” Julius Fucik’s “Children of the Regiment” march, a salute to Bob Hope, James Barnes’ “Valor,” Michael Geisler’s “Call of Heroes,” a salute to the Armed Forces, Karl L. King’s “Sons of Veterans” march, a medley of Beach Boys favorites and John Philip Sousa’s “The Stars and Stripes Forever” march.

The concert starts at 3 p.m. Sunday at PackZard Music Hall, 1703 Mahoning Ave. NW, Warren. Admission is free. Funding is provided by the W.D. Packard trust.
