Eastwood Mall sets fireworks, fun day
The Eastwood Mall Complex in Niles will have its annual Family Fun Day and November Rain fireworks display on Saturday.
Family Fun Day runs from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday inside the mall, 5555 Youngstown-Warren Road, and includes a magic show by Blake Bailey Productions and Junior Achievement’s Yough Market Day.
The November Rain pre-party starts at 6:30 p.m. in the parking lot next to Ollie’s and will include live music by RDNA and Youngstown’s Houseband before the fireworks show accompanied by music on WHOT-FM starts at 9 p.m. Admission is free.
YSU art students exhibit ‘Multiples’
“Multiples,” a class project of the art department’s Paint Studio at Youngstown State University, will be on display through Nov. 29 at Bliss Hall’s Judith Rae Solomon Gallery.
The exhibit features small-scale art created in multiples that expand both the formal and conceptual dimensions of the students’ work.
Part of the project also focuses on how the students will design and manage their exhibition within the public space of the gallery.
An opening reception is planned from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Friday. Gallery hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays.
Stambaugh hosts lecture with Gates
Emmy and Peabody Award-winning filmmaker literary scholar and journalist Henry Louis Gates Jr. will speak at 7 p.m. Nov. 7 at Stambaugh Auditorium, 1000 Fifth Ave., Youngstown for Youngstown State University’s Centofanti Symposium.
Gates is the director of the Hutchins Center for African & African American Research at Harvard University and the host of the PBS series “Finding Your Roots.”

Easy Street announces ‘Miracle’ dates
Easy Street Productions’ “Miracle on Easy Street” celebrates its 35th anniversary with performances at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 13 and 14 and 2:30 p.m. Dec. 15 at Powers Auditorium in Youngstown.
Easy Street founders Maureen Collins and Todd Hancock will serve as hosts and be joined by more than 100 singers, dancers and Little Rascal for the holiday revue.

TCHS program looks at Niles KKK riot
The Trumbull County Historical Society’s next Sunday Speaker Series event will focus on the 100th anniversary of the 1924 Niles KKK riot.
Martha Pallante, a professor of history at Youngstown State University, will delve into the events of that day and its historical significance in the community.
The program starts at 2 p.m. Sunday at the National McKinley Birthplace Memorial Museum, 40 N. Main St., Niles.
Admission is free.
Library presents Romanovs programs
Two programs on “The Last of the Romanovs” are scheduled in November at the Warren-Trumbull County Public Library, 444 Mahoning Ave. NW, Warren.
Susan Cannavino tells the story of Nicholas II (last tsar of Russia), his wife Alexandra, their four girls (including Anastasia) and their son Alexei. It also includes Rasputin and the end of the Romanov dynasty and is full of romance, murder, mysticism, a mother’s love, duty and sacrifice.
Part one is scheduled at 6 p.m. Nov. 7, and part two will be at 6 p.m. Nov. 14.
Admission is free.
Tickets available for SMARTS dinner
Nov. 8 is the deadline for reservations for SMARTS Family Dinner at 5:30 p.m. Nov. 20 at Basilica of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, 343 Via Mount Carmel Ave., Youngstown.
This year’s theme is “Artful Leadership: Artists Lead the Way” as SMARTS celebrates its 27th year providing arts education in the Mahoning Valley.
