‘Stomp’ coming to Powers Auditorium

The percussion show “Stomp” comes to Powers Auditorium in Youngstown on May 14, 2025.

In the show created by Luke Cresswell and Steve McNicholas, synchronized stiff-bristle brooms become a sweeping orchestra, eight Zippo lighters flip open and closed to create a fiery fugue and wooden poles thump and clack in a rhythmic explosion. STOMP uses everything but conventional percussion instruments — dustbins, suitcases, radiator hoses, boots, hub caps — to fill the stage with sound.

“Stomp” ran for 29 years Off-Broadway at the Orpheum Theatre, closing in 2023 after more than 11,000 performances. The show has played in more than 50 countries and been seen by more than 26 million people since its debut.

Tickets for the 7:30 p.m. show go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday at the DeYor Performing Arts Center box office, online at deyorpac.org and by calling 330-259-9651.

Starting at $2.99/week.
