Staff report

Artists explore the “Seven Deadly Sins” in an exhibition opening Friday at Soap Gallery.

Participants were challenged to explore the nature of vice and express their thoughts on the “Seven Deadly Sins” through one or more works of art. All artwork submitted for the “Seven Deadly Sins” exhibit is inspired by at least one of the seven deadly sins — lust, gluttony, greed, sloth, wrath, envy and pride.

Participating artists include Julie Martin, Tom Welsh, Joe Gergley, Pete Vouvounas, Sara Lee, Susan Jacobs, Jourdan Pettis, Eli K., Andy Shiengleton, Zach Scheidegger, Amanda Baker, Courtney Dimoff, Lauryn Gintert, Michelle Davis, Joy Cotton, Raymond Towler, George Nelson, Derek Winkle, Abby Patterson and Daniel Rauschenbach.

“Seven Deadly Sins” opens with a reception from 5 to 10 p.m. Friday at Soap Gallery, 117 S. Champion St., Youngstown. The work will be on display through Oct. 29, and gallery hours are noon to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday. For more information, go to soap galleryyo.com or call 330-240-0723.
