McGuffey series: true-crime author

True-crime author Jane Turzillo will discuss her book “Wicked Women of Ohio” for the next William Holmes McGuffey Historical Society’s Memories of a Lifetime lecture.

It includes stories about Clara Palmer, a late 19th century brothel owner; Mildred Gillars, a failed actress who peddled Nazi propaganda during World War II; and Anna Marie Hahn, who poisoned at least five elderly Cincinnati men.

Turzillo has degrees in criminal justice technology and mass-media communication from the University of Akron and multiple awards from the National Federation of Press Women.

The program starts at 10 a.m. May 21 at Chad Anthony’s Grille Meeting Room, 4698 Belmont Ave., Liberty. Admission is $5 for member and $10 for nonmembers. Reservations are recommended and can be made by calling 330-726-8277.
