YSU show offers small, mighty art

YOUNGSTOWN — The exhibition “Small but Mighty” opens Monday at Youngstown State University.

Organized by Dragana Crnjak, the show features small-scale works created by students currently enrolled in intermediate and advanced painting classes. They are painting studies reflecting the students’ explorations of color, surface, composition and the synthesis between the formal and conceptual aspects of painting.

Participating students include Naihomy Lebron, Youngstown; Rachel Hritz, Youngstown; Holly Yarab, Boardman; Verena Bo Gyeong Son, South Korea; Patrick Savage, Youngstown; Jayme McKay, Hermitage, Pa.; Cassandra Holsopple, East Palestine; Michelle Davis, North Jackson; Stephanie Ranalli, Girard; and Siobhan Bacha, Boardman.

The work will be on display through March 26 in the Judith Rae Solomon Gallery on Bliss Hall’s second floor. The exhibition is available to view through the gallery windows from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
