Series features dulcimer player

The president of the Dulcimer Society of Trumbull County will be the next guest in the William Holmes McGuffey Historical Society’s lecture series at 10 a.m. Oct. 17 at Kravitz’s Deli Meeting Room, 3135 Belmont Ave., Liberty.

Schilling will give a brief description of the Appalachian dulcimer, which is a fretted string instrument of the zither family and originally played in the Appalachian region of the United States. He also will perform on several dulcimer instruments. Schilling started the Dulci-More Festival and is a founding member of the Canton Folk Song Society.

Admission is $5 for members and $6 for nonmembers Reservations are recommended and can be made by calling 330-726-8277.
