Pianist plays Dana alumni recital
Pianist Sean Baran will be the next performer in the Dana Alumni Recital Series.
Baran earned his bachelor’s degree from Dana in 2011 and his master’s degree there in 2014. He studied piano with Caroline Oltmanns and organ with Daniel Laginya. In 2014, he attended the Zodiac Festival in Nice, France.
In addition to maintaining a private piano studio in Youngstown, Baran is a resident artist at Lincoln Park Performing Arts Center in Midland, Pa., where he coordinates the piano program for its charter school.
He is the organist at Boardman United Methodist Church, where he organizes the Boardman United Methodist Church Community Concert Series. He is also a member of the American Guild of Organists.
He has organized fundraising concerts for the American Guild of Organists and the Boardman High School Choirs, and he served as the Youngstown Symphony Orchestra’s ensemble keyboardist during its 2018-19 Stained Glass and Classics series.
He will perform works for solo piano by Brahms and Persichetti.
The Dana Alumni Recital Series features a variety of music performed by graduates of the Dana School of Music in collaboration with the McDonough Museum of Art.
The pre-recorded performance will premiere at 7 p.m. Saturday on the YouTube channels of both the Cliffe College of Creative Arts and the McDonough and is free to view.
