Wishing to perform again

Wish You Were Here’s last gig was a sold-out show Feb. 29 at downtown Warren’s Robins Theatre.

Eroc Sosinski, bass player and vocalist for the band, hopes he doesn’t have to wait until Aug. 29, when the Pink Floyd tribune act is scheduled to close the 2020 River Rock at the Amp concert series, for its next gig.

“I’m itching to play in a band situation,” Sosinski said.

Sosinski has been playing solo and duo shows online to raise money, but those have been the only performances in the last month for the full-time musician.

Wish You Were Here is scheduled to play Lorain’s Rockin’ on the River in June, and the band’s show this month at MGM Northfield Park has been moved to August. Sosinski also plays bass in Michael Stanley and the Resonators, and that band’s summer schedule includes a July 18 concert at the Youngstown Foundation Amphitheatre.

Like many performers, Sosinski is waiting to see if there will be further disruptions.

“I think restrictions will be lifted gradually, starting with smaller gatherings, small clubs,” he said. “The concert industry is saying there won’t be large shows for a while. I know people are itching to get out. Some will want to do it no matter what, and some will be hesitant about going out for a while. It will take a while for the concert industry to rebound.”

Wish has been performing at the Warren Community Amphitheatre since 2008.

“The setup of the theater down there by the river is beautiful for both the audience and for us,” Sosinski said. “We’ve always had such great crowds there. People enjoy their music there and want to have a good time. They’re always supportive.”

The advance sell out of its Robins Theatre debut was proof of the fan base the Pink Floyd tribute act has built in the area from years of amp concerts.

“They’ve done a great job renovating it making it usable as a performance space,” he said. “With our kind of show, people know that indoors it will be a different experience than an outdoor amphitheater. The sound and the lighting is more contained and effective. There are things you can do inside that you can’t do outside.”
