JCC offers series of virtual classes

The Paul & Yetta Gluck School of Visual Arts at the Jewish Community Center of Youngstown is offering eight-week virtual classes.

Curtis Smith will walk participants through an interactive online art class each week. Supplies will be delivered to each student the first week of class. A device with camera and microphone capabilities as well as internet access is required.

In “Artist Discovery,” students will explore a variety of art techniques based on various artists’ styles to create their own masterpieces. The class runs from 5 to 6 p.m. Thursdays starting May 7 for grades 1 through 4 and from 6:15 to 7:15 p.m. Thursdays for students in grades 5 through 8.

In “Watercolor Painting,” students will be introduced to the world of watercolors by learning about the special qualities of both tube and pan watercolors, such as color mixing, transparency and water saturation. A variety of paper styles and brushes will be utilized to create class studies as well as compositions.

This course for ages 14 and older runs 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursdays starting May 7.

The cost for each class is $50 for JCC members and $67 for nonmembers. Visit jccyoungstown.org for information.
