Sutliff presents lecture on black music
The third annual “Nurturing Pathways to Freedom” lecture series presented by the Sutliff Museum will feature William McDaniel at 3 p.m. Saturday in the Thomas Meeting Room of the Warren-Trumbull County Public Library, 444 Mahoning Ave. NW, Warren.
McDaniel, a retired professor of African-American Music at The Ohio State University, will speak on “Understanding Black History through Black Music.” This program, utilizing recorded music, explores various aspects and periods of black history by examining the music of each era. It ranges from the work songs and spirituals of slavery through the rap of modern urban times.
