Warren Rotary Fall Fest

Warren Rotary Club will have its first Fall Fest of the Valley at Eastwood Field.

Rotary President Teri Surin said the event replaces the chocolate and dessert festival the chapter used as a fundraiser for more than a dozen years.

“We wanted something more family oriented,” she said.

Heather Sahli, assistant general manager of the Mahoning Valley Scrappers, is a member of the Rotary chapter and suggested using the ballpark.

“Heather said they’d been looking for a fall event at the field, and this would fall right in line with that,” Surin said. “We wanted to have it in Warren originally, but we didn’t want to conflict with the Warren Oktoberfest and some of the other things going on.”

Surin also hopes the southern Trumbull County setting for the event will draw more visitors from Mahoning County.

The festival runs from 2 to 7 p.m. Saturday, and the entertainment lineup includes Jess Matheson, Family Pride Bluegrass Band, James Dance Studio, comedian / magician Eric Thompson and the Lakeview Jazz Band with DJ Ray providing music between acts.

The Scrappers’ Kids Zone, bounce houses and other attractions will be open for children and the Niles Fire Department will have one of its vehicles on display for a touch-a-truck event.

More than 25 food and craft vendors are scheduled to attend, and the ballpark concession stands also will be open.

The event will culminate with a fireworks display sponsored by Diane Sauer Chevrolet and the Cafaro Foundation.

Surin said she is hoping the event can draw 1,000 people in its first year. Proceeds will benefit the Warren Rotary Foundation, which awards grants to local charities.
