Topaz Jones headlines YSU Fall Fire Fest
YOUNGSTOWN — Topaz Jones will headline the seventh Fall Fire Fest at Youngstown State University.
The event is a combination concert and pep rally held in conjunction with YSU’s homecoming celebration.
The New York-based hip hop artist has toured with Big Sean and Ty Dolla Sign and been featured on such websites as Pitchfork and Ones to Watch. His latest releases are the singles “Black & White” and “Cotton Fields.”
Also performing are local acts Very Good Friends, an indie rock/soul quintet, and GRIZZZLY, an experimental hip hop artist.
The event will include a Penguin Pride Rally showcasing student athletes and introduce YSU’s 2019 Homecoming Court. President Jim Tressel will speak at the event and the YSU Marching Pride will perform.
Local food trucks will be selling their specialties, and various student organizations and university departments will host interactive activities for students. Hours for the Penguin Shuttle will be extended during Fire Fest, with additional stops at the event site from 6:45 p.m. until 11:15 p.m.
