Planetarium sets attendance record
The Ward Beecher Planetarium had record attendance for the 2018-19 season.
The planetarium hosted 11,088 visitors at its 138 free Friday and Saturday shows. That’s up from 10,208 in 2017-18 and 7,110 in 2016-17 and is the highest attendance figure since the planetarium began keeping records about 15 years ago, according to planetarium engineer Curt Spivey, planetarium engineer.
Another 8,152 elementary students visited the planetarium on school trips, taking the total attendance to 19,240 people.
About 1,700 visitor came during the planetarium’s “Rock the Dome Weekend,” and the light shows choreographed to music will return in 2019-20.
