Cortland native exhibits at UA

The work of Cortland native Jennifer Vanderpool is on display at the University of Akron’s Emily Davis Gallery as a companion exhibition to her current show at the Tyler History Center in Youngstown.

“Untold Stories: The Forgotten Underclass in Rust Belt Urban Renewal” identifies outmoded imagery of blighted “Rust Belt” cities and employs them as allegories to evoke questions about neighborhood decay and gentrification, segregation, generations of unemployment, and economic redevelopment.

The Akron component runs through April 19 and a meet-the-artist reception is planned 5 to 8 p.m. today.
