Stillman “Rocky” and Jean Rockwell of Warren, celebrated their 65th anniversary Oct. 9, 2019.

The Rockwells were married Oct. 9, 1954, in the historical Zion Lutheran Church in Cleveland.

In 1963, they moved to Warren, where Rocky became manager of Beneficial Finance’s downtown office. He worked for Beneficial for 38 years.

Jean was with St. Joseph Development Foundation for 14 years.

They retired from their respective positions on the same day in 1997.

They have one daughter, Michele (Randall) Rubenstein, two grandsons, a stepgranddaughter and a great-grandson.

Rocky has been a member of the Downtown Warren Lions Club for more than 50 years, serving as president in 1969, and being presented the Melvin E. Jones fellowship award for dedicated humanitarian service from the Lions International Foundation. For more than 47 years he has planned the Lion’s Christmas Party for the Deaf Education Program at Champion Central School.

Since turning 85 this year, he has kept busy and manages to bowl two to three times a week.

Jean has turned her interests to landscape designing and continues creating extensive floral showpieces for businesses and individuals.

Since their retirement, they have continued to expand the landscaping at their residence, which they created from Jean’s designs and the two of them built together, shoveling 44 yards of dirt and peat as well as moving hundreds of rocks.

They said they believe that reaching 65 years of marriage is a blessing and they are grateful for each and every year.
