ALZHEIMER’S FORUM FOR AFRICAN-AMERICANS: The Alzheimer’s Association Greater East Ohio Area Chapter is holding a virtual community forum for African Americans to talk about Alzheimer’s disease, dementia and memory loss, and to educate the community about the Association’s free resources, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Research shows that African Americans are about twice as likely as whites to have Alzheimer’s or another dementia, and typically are diagnosed in the later stages of the disease.

GLENBEIGH OFFERS FREE VIRTUAL SUPPORT: Glenbeigh Outpatient Center of Niles, 29 North Road, Niles, as part of its response to the limitations placed on social interactions, continues to offer Bridges to Recovery discussions through a series of Zoom events.

Join Glenbeigh for online recovery support with other people in recovery with alcohol and drug addictions. These virtual sessions are free. Connect for various topics, by linking through www.facebook.com/glenbeighhospital or by texting the word “Glenbeigh” to 81411 to receive meeting information.

ADDICTION HELP: The Trumbull County Combined Health District urges residents to help slow the increase of overdoses in the community by taking advantage of free Narcan (naloxone) available through the district.

Narcan quickly reverses the effects of opioids such as heroin and Fentanyl, and anyone can be trained by one of the district’s staff to administer the life-saving medication and receive a free kit containing two doses.

To get help for an individual needing to kick an addiction, contact the Coleman Access Center at 330-392-1100 for screening and placement into treatment or detox. Or call 211 so that Help Network of NE Ohio may assist you.

ST. JOE’S AT THE MALL: St. Joe’s at Eastwood Mall’s hours are 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, next to JCPenney and Kay Jewelers. All classes are open to anyone with a St. Joe’s at the Mall membership. Screenings and programs are open to the public. All classes are by registration only due to social-distancing guidelines.
