ADDICTION HELP: The Trumbull County Combined Health District urges residents to help slow the increase of overdoses in the community by taking advantage of free Narcan (naloxone) available through the Trumbull County Combined Health District.

Narcan quickly reverses the effects of opioids such as heroin and Fentanyl, and anyone can be trained by one of the District’s to administer the life-saving medication and receive a free kit containing two doses.

For a kit or more information, call the Trumbull County Combined Health District at 330-675-2590, Ext 3.

To get help for an individual needing to kick an addiction, contact the Coleman Access Center at 330-392-1100 for screening and placement into treatment or detox. Or call 211 so that Help Network of NE Ohio may assist you.

COVID-19 OUTBREAK INFORMATION: Visit the Trumbull County Health Department website for up-to-date information regarding COVID-19 vaccinations, registration and distribution locations. The Trumbull County COVID-19 HUB is available online at https://covid-19-trumbull-ema.hub.arcgis.com The HUB contains maps and apps.

SAFETY COURSES AVAILABLE: The National Safety Council Ohio Chapter, is offering the following three safety courses in May. The courses are open to everyone. Registration deadline is Thursday by calling 330-747-8657 ext. 1.

The National Safety Council is a nonprofit, nongovernmental organization promoting Safety. The Ohio Chapter is located in the Ohio One Building in downtown Youngstown, 25 E. Boardman St. Suite 343, Youngstown.

Courses are:

• First-Aid (two-year certificate) will be 8 a.m. to noon May 13, at the NSC Ohio Chapter. A First-Aid Fee of $52.50 can be paid with credit card when calling to pre-register.

• CPR / AED Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation and Automated External Defibrillator Course, Adult / Child / Infant (Two-year certificate) will be 1 to 5 p.m. May 13 at the NSC Ohio Chapter. A CPR / AED fee of $52.50 can be paid with credit card when calling to preregister.

• DDC4 Defensive Driving Course (four hours) is being offered 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. A driving course fee of $45 can be paid with credit card when calling to preregister.

DINING WITH DIABETES: The Ohio State University College of Food, Agricultural and Environmental Sciences is offering “Virtual Dining with Diabetes” throughout May.

Viewers will learn how to incorporate good, healthy cooking techniques and other practices to help control your blood sugar through our cooking school and nutrition education program designed for people with diabetes and their family members or caregivers.

The program will be 10 a.m. to noon Monday and May 10, 17 and 24. Register for the free online program at https://go.osu.edu/diningwithdiabetes52021.

GLENBEIGH OFFERS FREE VIRTUAL SUPPORT: Glenbeigh Outpatient Center of Niles, 29 North Road, Niles, as part of its response to the limitations placed on social interactions, is offering its Bridges to Recovery discussions through a series of Zoom events.

Join Glenbeigh for online recovery support with other people in recovery with alcohol and drug addictions. These virtual sessions are free and open to the entire recovery community.
