SUPPORT GROUP CONFERENCE CALL: Help Network of Northeast Ohio will hold a survivors of suicide support group 6 p.m. Wednesday by conference call.

Anyone grieving the death of a loved one to suicide may email cgrizinski@helpnetworkneo.org to register for the conference call.

DISEASE SELF-MANAGEMENT: Direction Home of Eastern Ohio is offering a Chronic Disease Self-Management Program workshop through Healthy U in a call format to assist in efforts to provide social engagement and education in the times of social distancing.

This course is designed to help find ways to deal with everyday problems related to chronic conditions. Topics include techniques to deal with frustration, fatigue, pain, and isolation; appropriate exercise for maintaining and improving strength, flexibility and endurance; appropriate use of medication; and how to communicate to family, friends and health professionals about chronic conditions.

The workshop is for people 60 or older living in Ashtabula, Trumbull, Mahoning or Columbiana counties. Group sessions via telephone last 30 minutes once a week for six weeks. Healthy U is the name used in Ohio for evidence-based chronic disease self-management workshops developed at Stanford University.

VIRTUAL WALKING PROGRAM: The American Heart Association and Sharon Regional Medical Center are providing a free, virtual community walking program that gets people moving during the pandemic.

The initiative, called “Healthy For Good,” will run through the Mercer / Lawrence Heart Walk on Sept. 26. Anyone can join the group through the Healthy Steps Virtual Walking Program Facebook page.

ST. JOE’S AT THE MALL: St. Joe’s at the Mall in the Eastwood Mall is reopening with a phased approach.

Summer hours have changed to 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. The new location is next to JCPenney and Kay’s Jewelers. Many of St. Joe’s Fitness classes are being offered on the Facebook page, www.facebook.com/St-Joes-at-the-Mall-578312085547827.
