VALLEY LEGACY AWARDS: The Valley Legacy Awards, which recognize outstanding seniors and senior advocates from Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana counties, is accepting nominations for the 2018 Awards.

The awards honor people for a lifetime of working to improve the Mahoning Valley and individuals who have provided exceptional support to and for older Americans through their professional, volunteer or civic roles.

Awards include Outstanding Senior Award for Professional Excellence, Outstanding Senior Award for Community Achievement and Outstanding Advocate for Seniors. Outstanding seniors should be 60 or older.

Nominations must be postmarked by July 17 and forms are available at www.ShepherdoftheValley.com, and at all Shepherd of the Valley locations.

NUTRITION SITES AVAILABLE: The Trumbull County Nutrition Program for the Elderly is provided by the Trumbull County Office of Elderly Affairs and operates nutrition sites at seven locations in the county. Meals will be delivered to county residents 60 and older who are homebound, unable to cook for themselves and not living with someone who can cook for them. Client donations are accepted. TODAY: Meat loaf with gravy, Italian bread, whipped potatoes, wax beans, apricots, banana pudding dessert.

MONDAY: Pork carnita taco, rice with chives, corn, sweet and sour coleslaw, applesauce, sherbet;

TUESDAY: Baked salmon with dill sauce, wheat bread, roasted potatoes, broccoli, pineapple tidbits, cookie;

WEDNESDAY: Cold creamy chicken salad, croissant, cucumber tomato salad, baby carrots with ranch dressing, seasonal fruit, gelatin;

THURSDAY: Country fried steak with gravy, wheat bread, cheesy whipped potatoes, Italian green beans, Mandarin oranges, brownie;

JULY 20: Chicken Primavera, penne pasta, dinner roll, tossed salad with Italian dressing, peaches, ice cream.

911 SPECIAL NEEDS REGISTRY: To be placed on the Trumbull County 911 Special Needs Registry Program to alert first responders in case of emergency, fill out forms at the Trumbull County Commissioners Office, the Trumbull County Recorder’s Office, all Trumbull County SCOPE centers or on the county 911 website at www.trumbull911.co.trumbull.oh.us under the “Special Needs” tab.

SCOPE RIDES: SCOPE and the Trumbull County Transit Board provide seniors 60 and older free rides to and from the centers 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays through Fridays, and 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekends and holidays. Call the center directly three days in advance of the desired trip.

TMM NEEDS VOLUNTEERS: Trumbull Mobile Meals needs volunteers to help deliver meals. Call Terri Dean at Trumbull Mobile Meals at 330-394-2538.
