WHAT: Township trustee meeting Tuesday

PRESENT: Steve Gerberry, Marvin McBride and Rich Harkins

Trustees:

• Approved the purchase of a 2020 Ford pickup truck at $29,204 and an eight-foot snow plow at $5,500 from Klaben Ford Lincoln of Warren;

• Canceled the annual Oktoberfest because of the coronavirus pandemic and concern of large mass public gatherings. The event was originally planned as the rescheduled Flag Day event, which also had been canceled in June;

• Accepted the resignation of Michael O’Connell who worked 18 years in the fire department, most recently as a lieutenant, effective Aug. • due to his other full-time job;

• Hired Trever Willoughby, McKenzie Baker, Christopher McDonald and Daniel Hawout as probationary firefighters effective Aug. 11. They will be introduced to the public at a future trustee meeting. The four will be trained and evaluated over the next six months;

• Approved the disposal of a 1997 Ford pickup truck and eight foot snow plow valued at $2,500 and a 1989 E-One fire engine valued at $2,500;

• Heard from Gerberry that Trumbull Neighborhood Partnership demolished three houses on DeForest Road, Emitt and Columbus streets, which are now cleared lots. A house on Emerson Avenue that was damaged in a fire was also removed;

• Reported 717 Credit Union expects to have the new personal teller machine operational by end of September at community park. Gerberry said they hope to possibly have a ribbon cutting and celebration. He said people can still become a 717 credit union member at any branch;

• Reminded residents interested in switching their electric service to Ohio Edison/ First Energy can contact the township offices to be added to the list.
