State stocking over 100,000 rainbow trout at 66 public lakes

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — State officials say more than 100,000 rainbow trout will be stocked this spring in 66 Ohio public lakes with trout releases for anglers to take place through May 19.
The Ohio Department of Natural Resources said in a statement that the first rainbow trout release is scheduled this Friday at Adams Lake in southern Ohio’s Adams County. The releases around the state are subject to the areas remaining ice-free and accessible to anglers.
Rainbow trout are raised at Ohio’s state fish hatcheries and measure 10-13 inches when they are stocked by the department’s Division of Wildlife. The daily catch limit for inland lakes is five trout.
Information about the releases, including updates to the schedule due to weather and stocking locations, is available on the Division of Wildlife website .
